Hyundai Motor Türkiye has taken a significant step toward strengthening its production capacity and sustainability efforts with plans to manufacture electric vehicles in Türkiye. This move reinforces the company’s commitment to reducing its carbon footprint while supporting the local economy and the global transition to green mobility.
The EV models manufactured in Türkiye’s ?zmit plant will contribute to Hyundai’s growing electric lineup, supporting the European market’s increasing demand for sustainable mobility solutions. Alongside electric models, Hyundai Motor Türkiye will continue to produce models with internal combustion engine.
As part of its ongoing transformation, Hyundai Motor Türkiye has rebranded from its previous title, “Hyundai Assan Otomotiv Sanayi”, to better reflect its role in the global automotive landscape. The company’s restructuring efforts emphasize its position as Hyundai Motor Group’s first and longest-serving overseas production hub outside Korea. With more than three million vehicles produced over 28 years, Hyundai Motor Türkiye continues to contribute significantly to employment, exports, and the national economy.
In addition to its production expansion, Hyundai Motor Türkiye prioritizes local sourcing, with over 55 percent of vehicle components manufactured domestically through a network of more than 50 suppliers. The locally manufactured EVs will further emphasize this commitment.
By accelerating its electric vehicle production, Hyundai Motor Türkiye strengthens both its competitive position and its dedication to environmentally friendly mobility. This strategic move not only solidifies the company’s plans to offering only zero-tailpipe emission vehicles in Europe by 2035 but also reinforces Türkiye’s important role for the company in Europe.
