Boehringer Ingelheim announces today that the Shareholders’ Committee has made the following appointments in the Board of Managing Directors:
Schmelmer, member of the Board of Managing Directors with responsibility for Finance and Group Functions, has been appointed Vice Chairman of the Board, effective May 1, 2024. In addition to his new role, Michael Schmelmer will continue his responsibility for Group Functions, which includes Human Resources, IT, Global Business Services, Global Facilities & Engineering and Legal & Compliance.
Frank Hübler, Head of Finance, Accounting, Controlling and Tax, will be joining the Board of Managing Directors per January 1, 2024. Frank Hübler will assume responsibility for Finance from May 1, 2024.
Christian Boehringer, Chairman of the Shareholders’ Committee commented: “These Board appointments will further strengthen the Board of Managing Directors to lead a phase of new portfolio assets, further investments and future company growth.”

Michael Schmelmer joined Boehringer Ingelheim in 2012 as Chief Information Officer and got appointed to the Board of Managing Directors on January 1, 2018, with responsibility for Finance. In 2019 he added responsibility for the Group Functions.
Frank Hübler joined Boehringer Ingelheim in 1999 and has held various leadership positions in Finance, including international assignments in Austria, the UK and Canada. In 2019 he assumed the role of Senior Vice president, Head of Finance, Accounting, Controlling and Tax. Mr Hübler holds an MSc in Business Administration.
