Tramagal / Stuttgart – Mitsubishi Fuso Truck Europe (MFTE) announces the appointment of Arne Barden as President & CEO of the European FUSO plant in Tramagal, Portugal. Arne Barden assumed his new position on January 1st 2022, succeeding Jorge Rosa, who will hand over the role as President & CEO after more than 16 years. Jorge Rosa will be supporting the FUSO plant in Tramagal in an advisory capacity for external matters in the future.
Arne Barden joined Daimler in 2001, was responsible for areas of facility management at Daimler India Commercial Vehicles in Chennai from 2008, and made a significant contribution to the successful start of production of the BharatBenz brand in 2012. In 2017 he was appointed the Head of Supply Chain Management for Mitsubishi Fuso Truck & Bus Cooperation (MFTBC) in Kawasaki, Japan. In this role he was responsible for supplier management, production planning, and global parts logistics.
During his 16 years as President & CEO of the Tramagal plant, Jorge Rosa oversaw key milestones such as the start of series production of the eCanter all-electric light-duty truck or the introduction of carbon neutrality initiatives. Jorge Rosa started his career with the company in 1979 in quality control in the Tramagal plant. Following further management responsibilities in various sectors, he was appointed President & CEO of FUSO’s European plant in 2005.
Located approx. 150 kilometers north-east of Lisbon, the Tramagal plant produces the international light-duty best-seller FUSO Canter as well as the all-electric FUSO eCanter. Production of the FUSO Canter started in 1980, and since then almost 240,000 FUSO trucks have been produced in Portugal. In line with Daimler Trucks’ sustainability goals for European production locations, the plant is aiming to achieve carbon neutrality in 2022.
