AMSTERDAM – PPG (NYSE: PPG) today announced that the PPG SPRAYMASTER™ system was used to produce a 23-meter-high mural on an apartment building in Utrecht, the Netherlands. The PPG SprayMaster system, recently introduced in the Netherlands, is a revolutionary precision spray designed for exterior woodwork; it is up to 50% faster than using a brush or roller, providing savings in time and materials for professional painters.
The mural, which has nature and diversity as its theme, was designed by Dutch street artist Rosalie de Graaf in consultation with the residents of the building. A group of professional painters applied the mural with their PPG SprayMaster machines using SIGMA COATINGS® paint from PPG.
“It’s the first time that I have handed over my work; I had 20 staff to color in all the boxes for me,” said de Graaf. “It’s a whole new experience. I put the contours of the artwork on the wall and indicated for each box which color should be in it.”
The mural is a gift to the Overvecht district of Utrecht from PPG, housing association Mitros, and equipment rental firm HoogWerkt.
“We wanted to give a colorful gift, an eye-catcher that makes the neighborhood even more beautiful,” said Rocco van Dick, PPG key account manager, Sigma Coatings. A mural is perfect to show that even this precision work is not a problem for the PPG SprayMaster system.”
