In 2021, Amazon used zero emission vehicles, including more than 3,000 electric vans and hundreds of cargo bikes, e-scooters, and walkers, to deliver more than 100 million packages to customers in Europe.
Transportation is a major factor in Amazon’s plans to reach net-zero carbon by 2040, and this is just the beginning. We have hundreds more electric vans on order, and we’ll get them on the road and delivering for customers over the coming years. We’re also using alternative delivery methods, like cargo bikes and e-scooters, in more than 15 cities across Europe. These delivery methods relieve traffic congestion and reduce emissions, and we’ll be expanding to more cities.
We will continue to invent and innovate new, more efficient ways to deliver packages to customers more sustainably. As we transform our fleet, we will save millions of tonnes of carbon from entering the atmosphere every year.
