Siemens Healthineers and Penta Hospitals International announce new Value Partnership to enhance healthcare in Slovakia

  • Agreement valued at more than 30 million euros with the biggest private project in Slovakia´s healthcare sector 
  • Strategic 15-year Value Partnership to significantly improve patient care provided by the flagship Bory Hospital starting in 2023
  • Partnership including ramp up and lifelong education support to continuously improve clinical outcomes

Penta Hospitals International, the largest multi-national hospital chain in Central and Eastern Europe, agreed a strategic partnership with Siemens Healthineers valued at over 30 million euros. Penta Hospitals International operates over 75 units, including 34 hospitals and over 41 outpatient clinics in the Czech Republic, Poland and Slovakia. Over the contract term of 15 years, Siemens Healthineers will provide comprehensive services to the biggest private project in healthcare sector in Slovakia – the Next Generation Hospital Bory in Bratislava. The objective of this partnership is to improve the quality of healthcare through precision medicine and digital health solutions. This partnership marks Siemens Healthineers as one of the largest partners of Penta Hospitals International in Slovakia.

Bory Hospital in Bratislava is a healthcare project currently under construction that aims to open in 2023. World-class staff will treat patients with the most complex needs, using state of the art technology. It has received private investment of 250 million euros – the biggest sum in Slovak healthcare to date.

“The next generation Hospital Bory in Bratislava is to be the flagship of our hospitals network but also of the entire Slovak healthcare system. The strategic partnership with Siemens Healthineers will provide us with technological leadership in the field of radiodiagnostic medical technology. Fast and accurate diagnosis is an unquestionable prerequisite for provision of high quality healthcare. Process efficiency, digitization with elements of artificial intelligence, constant innovations and training of our medical staff are to create unique added value. Based on the long term positive experience with Siemens Healthineers in the majority of our hospital network, we decided to made a step forward to a higher level of cooperation and partnership with Siemens Healthineers. And we are happy to do so. I am sure this partnership will guide the future direction of our entire healthcare sector,” added Martin Hrežo, Chief Executive Officer, Penta Hospitals International.

Over thecontract term, Siemens Healthineers will provide on-site service and replacement of more than 20 imaging and monitoring devices. The scope of this agreement includes computed tomography, advanced therapies, magnetic resonance, X-ray, molecular imaging and nuclear medicine devices. A significant education program fosuses on innovative tools such as Smart Simulator, PEPconnect and Cinematic Anatomy. There are also innovative AI based solutions to aid physicians in their work. Penta Hospitals will thus benefit from innovations in diagnostic equipment and digital healthcare solutions. This strategic partnership is meant to reduce the technological risk with the latest devices for Bory Hospital, reduce total operating costs, streamline operating processes and efficiency, facilitate digital connectivity and ensure that imaging devices continue to meet the industry’s stringent standards. Hospital employees will have access to training and further education resources to help further optimize patient care in Slovakia.

“As a true Value Partner we believe to accompany the new Hospital Bory during the next 15 years to the successful fulfillment of its ambitious plan of 35.000 hospitalizations and 350.000 outpatient examinations every year. The partnership contract is a significant step to strengthen mutual cooperation and leave important footprints in the healthcare industry in Slovakia on its path towards modernization, digitalization and overall transformation,” said Vladimír Šolík, Executive Director, Siemens Healthineers Slovakia.

Bory Hospital brings best practice medicine to Slovakia and aims to raise the standard of healthcare by fitting out the hospital with top medical equipment and employing the best professionals in their fields. Large investments into medical technologies, bespoke IT systems and a strict focus on evidence-based medicine is what puts Hospital Bory at the core of the CEE healthcare providers map. The hospital management ethos places the focus on the patient in the center of its six multidisciplinary medical programs. It will be expected that top Slovak medical and nursing professionals currently working in countries including Germany, the United States and Austria will come back to provide the best possible care to Slovak patients. The Bory Hospital will provide care for up to 400 patients at any time and will secure care for 35 000 inpatients a year due to its flexible bed management system.
