The Gen360 platform is a game changer for vertical mobility. Leveraging the latest digital technologies, it delivers enhanced safety, optimized service, and a completely new passenger and customer experience.
- The disruptive Gen360TM technology has been selected for major architectural projects in France including facilities built for sports competitions planned in Paris in 2024.
- The Gen360 platform was designed to meet the needs and expectations of Europe, the demanding market at the forefront of intelligent mobility.
- The Gen360 platform was developed and is manufactured in Europe by Otis’ network of manufacturing facilities including the industrial site in Gien, which celebrates its 60th anniversary this year.
Otis Worldwide Corp. the world’s leading company for elevator and escalator manufacturing, installation and service, announced today that the Gen360 platform which is currently available in Europe1, will equip several major architectural projects in France.
“We are delighted that our first-of-its-kind digitally native platform has found its rightful place in several renowned architectural projects. The Gen360 technology perfectly embodies our vision of urban mobility: smart and connected. The innovations brought by the Gen360 platform will enable the development of smart buildings with demand accelerating and expected to increase in the years to come,” explains Bernardo Calleja, President Otis EMEA.
“The Gen360 platform combines the best of our know-how with the latest technologies. It has been very well received by our customers and is already making a difference for great projects in France, where it is developed and manufactured. This is a double source of pride for the Otis teams! We can’t wait for our customers and their passengers to enjoy this new experience, says Olivier Rouvière, General Manager of Otis France.
Already chosen by several major architectural projects in Europe
The Gen360 technology sets new standards in terms of safety, performance and comfort, and already has been selected by architects and developers for their projects including:
The Aquatics Center in Saint-Denis, Paris area, France
Architects from VenhoevenCS and Ateliers 2/3/4/ have envisioned unique architectural lines for the future Aquatics Center and its pedestrian bridge, which will be built for the sports competitions planned in Paris in 2024. They will be built by a consortium led by Bouygues Bâtiment Ile-de-France, to meet the needs of the major sports events and then converted for future mixed uses.
Otis will install five elevators, including a Gen360 platform toprovide access to the top floor of the building. The exclusive Gen360 design allowing maintenance operations to be performed from within the car was decisive for this project freeing architects from any roof protrusion that might have interfered with the building’s architectural lines.
The Athletes’ Village will also be built for the sports competitions planned in Paris in 2024. It is designed to accommodate over 14,000 athletes and staff.
Otis was chosen by Eiffage Construction to equip all the apartment buildings in the Village sector E, which represents a total of 38 Gen360 units.
In 2024, the prestigious business school will move into a new 30,000 m² campus in the city center of Lyon (Gerland neighborhood, 7th district). The project is led jointly by PCA-Stream and the Altarea group through its Cogedim brand.
Out of the 10 Otis units on site, six will be Gen360 elevators chosen for its design flexibility (low overhead, no protrusion on the roof and all the related insulation and waterproofing issues) and enhanced connectivity.
A new illustration of Otis French Industrial know-how
The Otis production and modernization site in Gien, France is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year, and the Gen360 platform marks an important milestone in the site’s long track record of innovation.
This new generation of elevators was designed with the support of Otis engineers in Gien, which is also home to Otis’ European Research and Development center. The site is one of several where Gen360 parts and components will be manufactured and assembled, in addition to Roissy in France, Berlin, Germany, and Madrid and San Sebastian in Spain.
The Gien site produces components including the platform, uprights, ceiling, panel box, doors, controller, call boxes, in-cab push buttons and assembles them into subsystems.
