- ISG market researchers regard ZEISS Digital Innovation (ZDI) a leader in the customized software development segment
- AVA: Emergency doctor software helps save lives
- Saxonia Systems AG fully integrated into ZEISS
In their latest independent study market researchers from the Information Service Group (ISG), a leading market research and consultancy firm for IT, have extensively analyzed the market for customized application development & maintenance software (ADM). The ISG Provider Lens quadrant study evaluated over 100 companies worldwide. In this fast-growing market, ZEISS Digital Innovation was ranked very highly and named a leader*. After accolades in 2017 and 2018, the Dresden-based software experts were once again honored with a top mention, despite being up against some tough competitors.
Innovative project approaches
In the report, the analysts ranked the Dresden-based software experts’ innovative power and agile development approaches particularly highly. In fact, ZDI achieved top marks in these areas. The company is pursuing a new and innovative approach to software development, one that draws on synergies between customers both inside and outside its parent company. The company has a very broad knowledge spectrum, meaning that employees’ experience quickly and alternately benefits product and service development. “ZEISS Digital Innovation offers new and highly innovative project approaches and it combines the strengths of a mid-sized service provider with the skills of a global innovation leader,” says Oliver Nickels, who authored the ISG study. Further notable aspects included the high speed of application development, and fast market entry times and release cycles.
Emergency doctor video system saves valuable time
One example of this innovative project approach is the Ambulance Video Assistant (AVA), which ZDI developed for one of its clients. The cloud-based assistance system for emergency services transmits a live video feed and vital data directly to the emergency doctor. The doctor can then avail of this live video feed taken by body cams while making his/her way to the scene of an accident. This enables them to get a clear idea of the situation on-site, and use the camera to assess the accident victims and issue instructions to the paramedics at the scene. This saves valuable time and means patients can be treated without delay. That’s how the video assistance system helps save lives.
Fully integrated
ZEISS Digital Innovation was born of the former Saxonia Systems, which ZEISS acquired in 2020 and has since fully integrated into the Group. The company employs 385 people at its sites in Dresden, Munich, Berlin, Leipzig, Görlitz, and Miskolc (Hungary) and generated revenue in excess of 50 million euros in fiscal year 2020/21.
“Achieving this high rank in the study is proof that our integration into the ZEISS Group was the right strategic decision. Our innovative power and utilization of synergies in our projects were praised in particular. And, we believe we can go one better as we grow,” smiles Alfred Mönch, Head of ZEISS Digital Innovation. “This is a great success for the entire team. We are particularly delighted to have ranked so highly given the tough competition from much larger companies in this market.”
