  • Takada moves internally from current position as CIO for Daimler Trucks Asia, China, and Overseas to financial services provider
  • Key role in developing and launching new financial services relating electro mobility, connectivity and flexible pay-as-you-drive solutions

Leinfelden-Echterdingen. Michael Takada assumes the position of Chief Information Officer (CIO) at Daimler Truck Financial Services. The 49-year-old succeeds Johan Swart, who has left the company. Takada is changing internally from his position as CIO of Daimler Trucks Asia, China and Overseas. The exact timing of Takada’s change has not yet been determined but is planned for the coming weeks. Until then, Marcus Claesson, CIO Daimler Truck AG, will also take on the additional role of CIO for Daimler Truck Financial Services. Takada will continue to report to Claesson in his new role.

As the new CIO Daimler Truck Financial Services, Takada assumes global responsibility for the entire IT landscape for handling the financial services business with leasing and financing contracts as well as insurance. These include IT systems for customer management, accounting, controlling, risk management and business intelligence.

“We are delighted that we have been able to win Michael Takada over to Daimler Truck Financial Services. Our IT plays a decisive role in the introduction of new financial services tailored to the customer, relating to electro mobility, connectivity or flexible pay-as-you-drive solutions”, says Stephan Unger, Board Member of Daimler Truck AG for Financial Services and CEO of Daimler Truck Financial Services.

“Michael Takada, together with the business, will drive forward the digitalization of the financial services business based on new technologies such as artificial intelligence and further develop the IT infrastructure by introducing cloud solutions and microservices”, says Claesson.

Takada was born and raised in the US and has been working in Asia for over 20 years. He studied International Business at the University of Hofstra in New York. After graduating, he joined a security firm in New York in 1997 as a server engineer and manager for Management Information Systems. This is where his passion for informational technology began. His career continued to advance to General Electric, where he continued to expand his responsibilities and leadership experience in Japan and Asia, including as Head of Infrastructure, Head of Applicants, Chief Technology Officer and CIO of GE Capital Japan from 2016. In 2018, Takada joined Daimler Trucks Asia as CIO and later took on additional IT responsibility for Daimler Truck Overseas (DTO) and Daimler Truck China.

Daimler Truck Financial Services was launched in December 2021 as part of Daimler Truck Group and is currently active in eleven countries worldwide. The company is one of the world’s largest group-owned financial service providers in the commercial vehicle segment and offers leasing, financing and insurance for trucks and buses from the Daimler Group. Business in other countries is planned to start in the coming months. At the beginning of 2023, Daimler Truck Financial Services will employ around 1900 people worldwide and is expected to operate in 16 markets.
