Brussels – Toyota Motor Europe (2) (TME) sold 912,671 Toyota and Lexus vehicles in the first nine months of 2024, outperforming the market with an increase of +6% year-on-year. Both Toyota and Lexus posted all-time record sales across this period; Toyota brand maintained its position as 2nd best-selling passenger car brand with sales growth of +5% year-on-year, and Lexus maintained its position as one of Europe’s fastest growing premium brands with sales growth of +17%. Electrified vehicles now represent 75% of TME’s total European sales. TME’s mix of electrified vehicles increased with full-electric sales up +28%, plug-in hybrids up +37% and hybrids up +9%.
We are enjoying strong demand across the line-up of electrified vehicles which now make up 75% of our total sales mix, and we continue to outperform the market. Our multi-pathway approach, which offers diverse electrified technologies, has allowed us to respond positively to changing customer demand across Europe.
Brands and model performance
Toyota sold 848,974 vehicles between January-September 2024, an increase of +5% year-on-year. The brand’s top sellers included the Yaris range, Corolla range and the new Toyota C-HR. Toyota’s overall electrified sales mix is now at 74%, with volume increasing +7% year-on-year. Sales of battery electric vehicles in the first nine months were up +19% year-on-year at 26,824 vehicles. Plug-in hybrid sales increased +93% year-on-year with the introduction of Toyota C-HR PHEV.
Lexus’ record sales of 63,697, +17% year-on-year outperformed the premium market in Europe, while sales of electrified models increased +22% year-on-year. Lexus has a 100% electrified sales mix in West Europe and 90% across the entire region. Key performers are the all-new luxury compact Lexus LBX available as hybrid and Lexus NX available in plug-in hybrid and hybrid variants.
