Valeo was named a 2022 Automotive News PACE Award winner during the last awards ceremony taking place on September 19th for its Pendulum Dual Mass Flywheel Gen. 2

The prestigious award recognizes automotive suppliers for superior innovation, technological advancement, and business performance.

The Valeo Pendulum Dual Mass Flywheel Gen. 2 was recognized as an important automotive industry innovation to help to reduce noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) associated with the start and stop mechanism of hybrid vehicles. This technology is essential for the performance of hybrid vehicles because they require a strong filtration system to maintain both longevity and comfort within the vehicle. Valeo shows that its Pendulum Damper technology can be used to enable solutions that reduce gas emissions and pollution in hybrid vehicles and in vehicles with electrified Dual Clutch Transmissions (DCTs).

Electrifying the vehicle requires innovations such as this one, and Valeo has started preparing for this transformation over 10 years ago by investing in research and development, as well as industrial capacity.

Xavier Dupont, President of Valeo’s Powertrain Systems Business Group, said: “The Pendulum DMF Generation 2 is a real game changer providing customers with affordable and comfortable solutions  for reducing CO2 emissions as well as NVH in hybrid vehicles. Furthermore, we reduce the raw material used in its production,  in line with our CAP50 carbon neutrality strategy. This PACE Award is a source of pride for all the Valeo teams to improve the automotive technology solutions of today and tomorrow”.

The 28th annual PACE Awards was presented by Automotive News. The competition was open to suppliers that contribute products, processes, materials, or services directly to the manufacturing of cars or trucks. The Automotive News PACE Award is accepted around the world as the industry benchmark for innovation.

Following an extensive review by an independent panel of judges including a comprehensive written application and a virtual site visit, Valeo earned an Automotive News PACE Award.

As a technology company and partner to all automakers and new mobility players, Valeo is committed to innovation to make mobility cleaner, safer and smarter. We also aim to make conventional technologies more affordable to help the transition to electric vehicles. Valeo has technological and industrial leadership in electrification, ADAS, reinvention of the interior experience and lighting. These four areas are vital to the transformation of mobility and will drive the Group’s growth in the coming years.
