Today, the technology company Siemens and Germany-based TURN2X announced a Global Partnership aimed at advancing the production of renewable natural gas through a comprehensive technological collaboration. This partnership responds to the market’s growing recognition of renewable natural gas as a critical component in achieving a balanced and sustainable energy transition.

TURN2X specializes in producing climate-neutral methane by combining green hydrogen with CO? captured from bioethanol plants, to create a renewable alternative to conventional natural gas. By joining forces with Siemens’ advanced technology portfolio, the collaboration aims to significantly scale up TURN2X’s production capabilities while optimizing efficiency across the company’s operations.
“The collaboration with TURN2X is an example of how Siemens technologies can accelerate innovative solutions for clean energy,” said Axel Lorenz, CEO of Process Automation at Siemens. “We’re making an important contribution to the energy transition by helping advance promising concepts to the industrial level with our expertise and our portfolio in automation and digitalization.”
Dr. Dominik Schollenberger, CTO at TURN2X, said: “As a growing company in the renewable natural gas sector, our greatest challenge is scaling production while maintaining operational excellence. Siemens’ technology enables us to operate our plants remotely with unprecedented efficiency, which is crucial for our business model of securing long-term profitability from day one. This partnership gives us the technological foundation to rapidly expand our production capacity and meet the increasing market demand.”
Under the agreement, Siemens will become the preferred supplier and technology partner for TURN2X and provide a comprehensive suite of solutions from its Siemens Xcelerator portfolio. The partnership will focus on three key technological areas: First, process optimization using advanced automation systems and instrumentation specifically tailored for TURN2X’s unique green methane production process. Second, operational excellence thanks to digital twin technology and energy management solutions that enable sophisticated remote plant operation with maximum efficiency. Third, future-readiness resulting from enhanced cybersecurity and standardized solution development that will accelerate the deployment of new facilities. This integrated approach will enable TURN2X to rapidly expand its production capacity while maintaining the highest standards of reliability.
By enabling more efficient and scalable renewable natural gas production, the Siemens-TURN2X partnership will directly contribute to expanding the availability of green energy alternatives on the market.
