Imatis provides digital solutions to hospitals, municipalities and other care-giving institutions, bringing healthcare workers access to real time information anywhere. The company’s Fundamentum platform collects, integrates and aggregates data from patients, sensors and systems. It connects with a rich ecosystem of Imatis applications that help staff coordinate care, manage tasks and communicate more effectively.

Imatis will become DNV Imatis following the completion of the acquisition in July. It holds a unique position in the clinical and patient logistics market, having provided ICT solutions to hospitals and municipalities in Norway and abroad for 17 years.

“The acquisition of Imatis is the first step in DNV’s ambitious expansion into the digital health market. The Norwegian e-health pioneer has a very compelling product portfolio and considerable growth potential. DNV will use its strong brand and global infrastructure to further grow DNV Imatis internationally, and introduce new products and services to the digital health sector,” said Liv Hovem, CEO of DNV’s Accelerator, a new business area dedicated to rapidly growing new DNV businesses, services and solutions.

“DNV and Imatis share a common vision for helping healthcare professionals and institutions make better decisions and provide better care through safe and secure access to real-time data. DNV’s presence in more than 100 countries will play an important role in our long-standing ambition to become a significant international player in the digital health market. The company’s Norwegian ownership, long-term commitment and economic strength were important factors in our decision to join the DNV family,” said Morten Andresen, who will continue in his position as CEO of DNV Imatis.

45% growth by end of 2025

DNV’s acquisition of Imatis signals a new focus on digital health for DNV, as part of the company’s growth strategy.

“We are setting out on a significant growth path over the next few years. We are entering the decade of transformations and I can think of few global transformations as important as the digitalization of healthcare. We aspire to shape the future of trust and assurance in industries where we already have a strong presence, and in new sectors and emerging markets,” said DNV Group President & CEO, Remi Eriksen.

With healthcare systems feeling the strain of populations living longer, unhealthy lifestyles and a shortage of medical professionals, digitalization of the sector is necessary to improve the quality of care it delivers.

“It’s time to accelerate the digitalization of health. This effort goes hand in glove with DNV’s Purpose of safeguarding life, property and the environment. We see room for DNV to become a major player in enabling transparency and trust in this rapidly developing market. Ahead of us is a strong opportunity to grow our footprint in the healthcare sector and become a trusted voice in one of the most significant global transformations in healthcare’s history,” added Eriksen.

Growing in the healthcare sector

DNV has been active in the global healthcare sector for more than 30 years, delivering services including hospital accreditation and medical device certification. The company’s additional focus on digital health aims to grow DNV’s presence in the healthcare market significantly through innovation, acquisitions and partnerships.

“As the digital health market matures, we believe there is a need for a new player that can establish trust in the sector’s technologies, systems and data, so that healthcare professionals can improve lives more efficiently,” said Liv Hovem, CEO of DNV’s Accelerator business area.

Healthcare is one of the largest and fastest growing sectors globally, and the emerging digital health market is expected to be valued at USD310 billion by 2027, according to Data Bridge Market Research.
