Buc, France — GE HealthCare unveiled the first medical scanner production line in France on October 1 at its Buc site in the Yvelines region. This new line, first announced in October 2023, will allow more agility and proximity to European customers while developing this strategic site for GE HealthCare. The emergency department of the Centre Hospitalier de l’Agglomération Montargoise (CHAM) in the Loiret is the first site to receive this scanner assembled in France.
Assembly in France to be more agile and close to the market
Nearly 11 million CT scans are performed in France each year[1]. A reference examination in the diagnosis of many pathologies, the CT scan uses X-rays to provide 3D images of organs, soft tissues, vascular structures, and bones in a rapid and non-invasive way.
The Revolution Maxima CT scanner is now assembled for European customers at the Buc site. Buc’s teams carry out all functional and X-ray tests, system configurations, accessorizing and direct delivery from France to European customers.
The installation of this production line in France will reduce carbon emissions associated with the transport of this scanner across Europe by 84% compared to 2022, by bringing together several steps that were previously carried out on multiple logistics platforms and by promoting the use of train and ground shipping.

The CHAM emergency department is the first site to be equipped with a Revolution Maxima CT scanner made in France. With 60,000 visits per year to the emergency room, this hospital has chosen to use a scanner dedicated to the emergency room to reduce the time it takes to obtain examinations.
Forty percent of emergency room visits result in an imaging examination[2]. The use of imaging is essential in the coordination of care and the triage of patients for better management in urgent situations. While standard radiology remains the most used examination, CT scan is the first-line reference examination for many thoracic, abdominal, or neurological pathologies.
