AWS continues to invest in Hungary to support a growing number of AWS customers and partners moving to the cloud.

Amazon Web Services (AWS) opened its first office in Budapest, Hungary, in June. The new office is part of AWS’s ongoing investment in Central Eastern Europe as we expand our teams supporting the growing number of customers and partners in the region. The new office space will help our teams better support organisations of all sizes in Hungary, including start-ups, enterprises, and public sector organisations, as they make the transition to the AWS Cloud.

“Budapest offers an incredible talent pool of highly skilled and creative people, and we are excited to open our first AWS office in Hungary,” said Przemek Szuder, Central and Eastern Europe General Manager at AWS.

The expansion follows the launch of an AWS edge location in Budapest in January 2020. With the edge location, AWS provides its Hungarian customers with advanced technologies such as Amazon CloudFront, a content delivery network service; AWS Shield, which safeguards applications running on AWS; and AWS WAF, which protects web applications from common exploits. The AWS edge location connects Hungary to the AWS global infrastructure network, improving the secure delivery of content to customers in Hungary by more than 50%.

“After seeing increased customer adoption of AWS, we decided to open an office in Budapest to support customers who are looking to use AWS to innovate and lower their information technology costs, and grow their organisations in the cloud,” said Szuder. “We look forward to helping even more organisations accelerate their digital transformations and deliver innovative new products and services to Hungarian customers and citizens.”

Customers ranging from start-ups to large banks

Customers in Hungary use AWS to run everything from mobile, web, and social applications to development and test environments, artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), big data analytics, enterprise business applications, Internet of Things (IoT), and mission critical workloads. Hungarian customers that use AWS to grow and reinvent their businesses include Arcanum, Colossyan,Euronics Hungary, ingatlan.com, Lensa, Magyar Bankholding, Proofminder, Puraset, Raiffeisen Bank International, Recart, SEON Technologies, Shapr3D, and many more of Hungary’s top enterprises and fastest-growing startups.

AWS has a vibrant Hungarian community with hundreds of members, consisting of AWS customers, users, and technical enthusiasts. In Budapest, community members regularly organise two local meetups to share best practices and knowledge, and to network among like-minded peers. AWS supports Hungarian tech communities

AWS has been supporting the Hungarian start-up and technology community as well as students and educators for many years through programmes like AWS Academy and AWS Activate. In addition, AWS is introducing the new AWS Skill Builder subscriptions programme to Hungary.

  • AWS Academy empowers higher education institutions to help university students and educators develop knowledge and skills about AWS Cloud computing to accelerate cloud skills learning. AWS Academy member institutions in Hungary include the faculty of engineering and information technology at the University of Pécs and Budapest University of Technology and Economics.
  • AWS Activate provides start-ups with the resources they need to get started on AWS, including up to $100,000 in AWS Activate credits, training, and support, as well as contact with incubators, accelerators, and venture capital firms, such as Start-up Hungary, Day One Capital, and Hiventures.
  • AWS Skill Builder is AWS Training and Certification’s digital learning centre with more than 600 free courses. AWS Skill Builder subscriptions is a new resource for organisations and individual learners in Hungary that want to deepen their cloud skills through hands-on, interactive, challenge-based learning in AWS environments.

Partners grow their business with AWS

Hungary’s AWS Partner Network (APN) Partners and AWS Distributors, like Ingram Micro and TD SYNNEX Corporation, also welcomed the opening of an AWS office in the country. The APN includes tens of thousands of independent software vendors (ISVs) and systems integrators (SIs) around the world. Our partners build innovative solutions and services on AWS, and the APN provides AWS Partners with business, technical, marketing, and go-to-market support.

Both Hungarian systems integrators (such as Cheppers, Crayon, Snapsoft, SoftwareOne, Sonrisa, TC2, and 4IG), and global AWS Partners (such as Accenture, Deloitte, DXC Technologies, NTT, PwC, and T-systems), work with enterprise and public sector customers in Hungary, helping them migrate to AWS, deploy mission-critical applications, and use a full range of cloud monitoring, automation, and management services. ISVs in Hungary using AWS to deliver their software to customers around the world include ARH Zrt., Chemaxon, Lensa, Loxon Solutions. Customers in Hungary can find, try, deploy, and buy AWS Partner software solutions in AWS Marketplace.
